خلاصه مقاله:
Translation has always played a significant role across languages. Connecting the regulations of source language into target language is the mere target of translation. To this end, translator is regarded as a robust mediator exploiting latest techniques, methodologies, and innovative to bridge the gap across languages. One of these techniques being of crucial importance is shifts in translation. Catford (1965, p.73) defines shift as departure from formal correspondence in the process of going from SL (source language) to the TL (target language). Shifts cause translation to be palpable and tangible in target language. This is due to the fact that shifts do not change over the real and concealed intention of an item. However, it aims at modifying the literal meaning of a translational item in target language. The proposed notions on shifts (e.g. Vinay and Darbelnet, 1968, van Leuven Zwart, 1989, Blum-Kulka 1986, and Levy, 1969) are not exhaustive enough in New Translation Studies which translators can rely upon them. The present study proposes one passive technique of shift known as Heterotaxy to verify the real identity of a passive area between source and target languages. Heterotaxy consists of (1) syntactical shifts, (2) phonological shifts, and (3) HomoKultism (Akbari & Shahnazari, 2014) as cultural shifts in translation. And eventually the present study opens up the new insight in coping with the impossibilities of source-target reconciliation in translation.
