Effects of Nano-nitrogen fertilizers on nitrate leaching and yield in potato cultivation

چکیده

The purpose of the present study was to study the effect of Nano-nitrogen fertilizers on nitrate leaching, itsdistribution in soil profile, N-efficiency, and yield in potato cultivation. The treatments included Nano-NitrogenChelate (NNC), Sulphur Coated Nano-Nitrogen Chelate (SNNC), Sulphur Coated Urea (SCU), and Urea (U) at threelevels of nitrogen input (46, 92, and 138 kgN/ha). Comparison of nitrate leaching values due to the treatments showedthat NNC, SNNC, and SCU fertilizers led to reduced nitrate leaching levels by 33%, 41%, and 6% compared to Ufertilizer application. In contrast, potato yield increased by 38%, 45%, and 43% with NNC, SNNC, and SCU fertilizers,respectively, compared to U fertilizer application. Generally, the use of Nano-Chelate fertilizers is recommended for itscontribution higher crop production, reduced nitrate leaching, and the associated effects on human health and theenvironment.
