The sol–gel combustion synthesis was used to produce nano-crystalline particles of lead hexaferrite. Theresults revealed that the nitrate citrate gels exhibit a self-propagating behavior after ignition. The decomposition of thegel indicated a gradual transition from an amorphous material to a crystalline phase. High values of coercivity field andsaturation magnetization are obtained for sample calcined at 900 _C.
