In order to protect the marine environment and comply with the International Convention onOil Pollution Preparedness, Response and Co-operation (OPRC), the Kuwait Convention, andtheir related protocols, etc. in the Persian Gulf and Gulf of Oman, the Regional Organizationfor the Protection of the Marine Environment (ROPME) in the recent years has proceeded toconsider the legal, economic and environmental aspects of oil pollution in the ROPME SeaArea (RSA), since the marine environment would not survive without measures forprevention and control of its being polluted from various sources
