خلاصه مقاله:
Prediction of effective properties of fibrous composites from material properties of their constituents, i.e. fiber and matrix materials, has been a major research concern. This paper presents a micromechanical model based onmethod of cell (MOC) suitable for predicting the effective elastic properties of composite given the constituent volume fractions and constituent properties. Unidirectional fibrous composite was idealized with a repeating square array ofunite cells. The unite cell subdivided to four subcell including one fiber and three matrix. Predicted properties including Young’s modulus, shear modulus and Poisson’s ratio were compared by experimental measured properties.Results demonstrated the MOC’s ability to accurately predict a variety of continuously fiber reinforced composite properties with varying fiber volume fraction.
