Determine the Contribution of Harmonic Loads in Network Losses

The widespread use of nonlinear elements and increased sensitivity to the phenomenon of consumer devices , makes it one of the most important power quality issues . One major effect of harmonic through the conductors in the network is increasing current, resulting in higher net losses. In this paper, using the results of harmonic load flow proposed algorithm, network losses calculated and share of non-linear loads is investigated. The results of this study can be used for issues like penalties for non-linear loads and localization of filtering. The results show that the harmonic losses are a small part of the total losses but increase the number of non-linear loads in some circumstances can neutralize the harmonic.
