چکیده

Background & Objective:Tatera indica is one of the main reservoir hosts of Leishmania parasites. Only a littlemorphological information of Tatera indica is available. There is no research and investigation which has been implemented on molecular features in Iran and even in the world yet. In this study, it is for the first time that the number of this gerbil’s species characterized molecularly. Mitochondrial Cytochrome b (Cyt b) of this rodent, for which is a maternally-inherited genemarker were used to characterize and sequence of this redent. Investigation method: In our investigation, wiry and live wooden tarps were applied for catching of rodents. Also, cucumber was used as bait. DNA extraction has been performed by two phenol chloroform and Grinding mix methods. Moreover, Cyt b gene amplified, sequenced and analyzed usingmolecular software. Results: 10 Tatra indica rodents were distinguished among captured gerbils based on diagnostic keys and morphological and rmoleculsacharacters. DNAs of all collected samples from different regions were extracted and amplified from the mentioned gene (Cyt b). Sequenced samples were shown that this rodent have a unique sequence (haplotype).Conclusions: Out of 624 extended nucleotide of Cyt b gene in phylogenetic analyses, whole specimens of this species were placed in a single network.
