Preparation of open cell polyurethane foam containing CdS nanoparticles as an efficient dye adsorbent

چکیده

The polyurethane foam (PUF) containg of CdS nanoparticles as an adsorbent was prepared. Its efficiency was investigated with the objective of removing Reactive Blue 19 (RB19) as a model pollutant from aqueous solution. The structural and morphological properties of prepared foam were studied by fourier transform infrared (FTIR) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). The results of characterizaion indicated that cell structure of PUF containing CdS nanoparticles is as open cells wherase pure PUF is a closed cell foam . The effects of adsorbent dosage, initial dye concentration, pH of the reaction solution and contact time on RB19 removal were studied. It was observed that under optimal conditions the removal of the studied dyes was 94%.
