The Study of Applying Wireless SensorNetworks in Smart Homes and Cities

A wireless sensor network (WSN) is a wirelessnetwork consisting of spatially distributed autonomousdevices using sensors to cooperatively monitor physical orenvironmental conditions, such as temperature, sound,vibration, pressure, motion, or pollutants, at differentlocations. The goals and tasks of sensor networks are todetermine the value of some parameter at a given location,to detect the occurrence of events of interest and estimateparameters of the detected events. The concept of smarthome system has rapidly gained attention because of thedevelopment of wireless sensor network technology. In thispaper after describe wireless sensor networks and Zigbeetechnology, we show the design of smart home with wirelesssensor network and zigbee technology. After that, we showthe applications of wireless sensor network in smart city. wedescribe, health applications, home applications, Militaryapplications and commercial applications
