Considerations in Design of a Simulator Used as a Part of a Power System Analysis, Operation and Control Laboratory

Power system students usually are not aware of the real problems which are. faced in analysis, operation and control of power systems. Also in recent years the power engineering does not attract good students as it did before, and is regarded as an inactive field by engineering students as far as the modern technology is concerned. Exploiting new methods and facilities like a training simulator can solve these problems by a great deal. By the financial support of the Council for Electric Energy Research of I.R. of Iran a computer laboratory for analysis, operation and control of power systems is under the process of design and development in Power and Water Institute of Technology. A training simulator is an integrated part of this project. In this paper considerations in design of this simulator are presented.
