Measuring the Multi Period Efficiency in DEA with Undesirable Outputs

In the real world, there are systems with desirable and undesirable outputs that their production processes must be studied in multiple periods. For this purpose, the current paper proposes a procedure to evaluate the efficiency of systems over several periods of time where undesirable outputs exist. Indeed, data envelopment analysis (DEA) technique is utilized to determine the overall and period efficiencies of decision making units (DMUs) in the presence of undesirable outputs. A weighted average of efficiencies of periods forms the overall efficiency. A numerical example is used to illustrate the approach.
