An increase in number, unit output and participation of steam turbines in generation of electric power in power generating systems imposes the need for reducing of unscheduled outages, accidents and increasing of their operational reliability. An extra care to that problem is lately given by various institutes, steam turbine maunufactu rers, electric power distributing organizations and thermal power stations. This article presents some results of a longtime investigation of accidents of the steam turbines in exploitation, on the basis of which measures for increasing of their operational reliability are proposed.
