چکیده

Adsorption of Methyl Tert-Buthyl Ether,as the most common gasolineadditive, on the B12N12nano-cage in terms of energetic, geometric, andelectronic properties was investigated by using density functional theorycalculations at the B3LYP/6-31G* level. The Methyl Tert-Buthyl Etherprefers to adsorb chemically via its oxygen atom on the Lewis acid sites ofB atoms of the B12N12nano-cage rather than physical adsorption via its Catoms onto N atoms of the B12N12nano-cage. On the basis of calculatedHOMO –LUMO energy gap anddensity of states, the electronic propertiesof the B12N12nano-cage are strongly changed upon the Methyl Tert-ButhylEther adsorption. It is indicating that the electronic properties of theB12N12nano-cage are very sensitive to the Methyl Tert-Buthyl Ethermolecule. Based on calculated results, the B12N12nano-cage is expected tobe a potential efficient adsorbent for adsorption of toxic Methyl Tert-ButhylEther in gasoline contaminated environmental systems.
