In this work, we use finite difference time domain (FDTD) method to analyze the plasmonic effect of Ag nanoparticles (NPs) on optical behaviour of nanolayer ZnO based quantum dot sensitized solar cells (QDSSCs). We use Cadmium Selenide (CdSe) quantum dots on ZnO nanolayer to absorb incident light. Lightabsorption in this QDs is a key parameter to have an efficient cell. So in present work we utilize Ag NPs to enhance light absorption in QDs. By decorating Ag NPs on QDs, incident light to the cell will scatter and if it is in the resonance frequency of electrons collective oscillations in the Ag NPs, then local surface plasmon resonances (LSPRs) will be excited which increases light intensity in QDs around Ag NPs. Eventually LSPR excitations improve light absorption in QDs. So it is a good idea to make QDSSCs more efficient.
