خلاصه مقاله:
Thermodynamic properties of binary liquid mixtures are important in engineering, process industry and also in developing theoretical models. The more quantitative idea about the nature of molecular interactions in liquid systems is given by calculating deviation from ideal behavior and the deviation can be best expressed in terms of excess thermodynamic functions. The solvent ethylenediamine is an intermediate in the production of chemicals such as fungicides, chelating agents and bleach activators, with two amine groups that can be involved in hydrogen bonding. In this study, Densities ( ρ ) of the binary mixtures of ethylenediamine (EDA) with methanol, ethanol, 1- propanol , 2-propanol, 1-butanol, 2-butanol have been measured at temperature 298.15 K and ambient pressure (815 hPa) as a function of composition. The excess molar volume ( E Vm ),partial molar volume ( i V − ), and excess partial molar volumes ( E i V ) of the binary mixture were calculated from the density data. It is observed that all mixtures show negative values of E Vm obviouslydue to increased interactions between amino groups of ethylenediamine and hydroxyl groups of alkanols. The results also provide information about the influence of alcohol chain- length both on self association of alcohols and on interactions between unlike molecules.
