چکیده مقاله:

In vitro antimicrobial activity of essential oils of three parts and crude extracts (hexane-ether and methanol extract) ofAchilleasantolina L. collected from Iran, were investigated separatelyagainst seven microorganisms by disc diffusion method and the minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) and minimal bactericidal concentration (MBC) determination. The studied samples were active against gram-positive and gram- negative bacteria. Both oils and extractswere the more active against the gram-positive tested bacteria (zoon diameter ranged from 15 to 32 mm; MIC values ranged from 0.32 to 10.24 μg/ml, MBC values ranged from 1.28 to 20.48 μg/ml), compared with gram-negative bacteria (zoon diameter ranged from 5 to 18 mm; MICvalues ranged from 5.12 to 81.92 μg/ml, MBC values ranged from 10.24 to 81.92 μg/ml). The maximum antimicrobial activity was shown by the methanolic extract, as compare to essential oils and the hexane-ether extract. While the gram (-) strain of S. typhiappeared as the most resistant one, oils and extracts of plant showed the most activity against gram (+) strain of S.epidermidis.
