Natural convection flow has been considered in an annular enclosure which is filled with afluid-saturated porous medium. The top and bottom horizontal walls are insulated while outervertical wall is cooled with a constant temperature and a linear temperature gradient appliedto inner vertical wall. The equations are non-dimensionalized and solved numerically usingFinite Volume Method (FVM) on a collocated non-uniform, orthogonal grid. Darcy–Forchheimer model is used to simulate the momentum transfer in the porous medium. Theeffect of Rayleigh, Darcy, Prandtl, solid-fluid Nusselt, internal heat generation parametersand effective conductivity ratio of phases on the streamlines and isotherms are presented, aswell as on the rate of heat transfer from the inner and outer vertical walls of the enclosure. Itis concluded that at the low values of effective conductivity ratio of phases, only the internalheat generation parameter has significant effect on the temperature field of the solid phaseand the heat transfer from inner and outer vertical walls. An analytical solution is obtainedfor this case and compared with numerical solution. The results show good agreementstogether.
