A novel Jlexible DC plasma display, with lateral pixel structure is fabricated on PET (polyethylene tetraphtalate) substrates Anode and cathode electrodes are placed on a single PET substrate which is encapsulated using a second PET substrate. An 8pm-thick flexible polymer is used as the electrical insulating layer for the separation of anode and cathode lines. The formation of the encapsulating cavity ts possible by vertical etching of top plastic using a UVassisted approach. A lateral tunnel structure'is fotmd suitable to achieve an abnormal glow to avoid the use of a series resistance in every pixel
