Iran’s and the Persian Gulf’s role in Eurasian Development

The lack of development of modern infrastructure, especially water infrastructure, is creating conditions that are a threat both to the environment and the health, economic and social condition of the peoples of the region. For example sandstorms and dust storms are becoming frequent events in Southwest Asia, especially in the Gulf region, but even extend to Iran, Afghanistan, Pakistan and India. While sandstorms rise up to tens of meters, dust storms can rise to several kilometers into space. And they can cover whole countries. When they reach urban areas, they shut down airports, ports, hospitals, schools, etc. The most recognized health hazard from sand and dust storms is that the dust particles are so tiny, they can penetrate the body's natural defenses and attack the respiratory system, triggering asthma and other respiratory problems. Scientists are even looking the effect of other harmful substances that accompany the sand and dust in the air such as pesticides, heavy metals, and agricultural fertilizers.However, prevention, as in any other health-related condition, is the key to eliminating this risk. The area stretching from Lebanon to Syrian and down Mesopotamia to the Gulf is called the Fertile Crescent. Historians claim that agriculture in the world started here in this region. However, it is not so fertile any more, due to wars, sanctions and lack of development. However, by creating new manmade natural resources of land and water, greenbelts, trees and vegetation selection, advanced agronomy and animal husbandry, and especially space-era science and capabilities, a new full moon of productive activity can be established where once was desert!
