Identification of collected Ganoderma Sp. from Gilan Province and new records for their host relationship and dispersal

The genus Ganoderma (Family: Ganodermataceae) involves different species that most of them are well known for their medicinal properties. More than 252 Ganoderma species are described from all over the world but only seven species have been recorded from Iran. In this research Gilan province forests situated in north Iran was surveyed for Ganoderma species. Samples were collected from different sites and hosts. Macro/micro-morphological studies were carried out on the fruitingbody and samples were identified. Among 11 collected samples, five new hosts are identified for Iran; Ganoderma lucidum and G. resinaceum collected from Gleditschia caspica, G. applanatum from Pinus taede and Gleditschia caspica, G. australe from Albizzia julibrissin, and G. tsugae from Pinus taede. Siahkal, Amlash and Separdan village (Gilan Province) were new distribution sites for different species of the genus.
