Selective Laser Sintering (SLS) has emerged as a versatile additive manufacturing technique in bone tissue engineering (BTE) due to its ability to fabricate scaffolds with intricate geometries, controlled porosity, and favorable mechanical properties. This review provides an overview of the principles underlying SLS technology, emphasizing its role in producing biocompatible scaffolds for bone regeneration. Various classes of materials, including polymers, metals, ceramics, and composites, are explored, with attention given to their mechanical performance, bioactivity, and compatibility for BTE applications. Recent studies highlight the promise of composite scaffolds, such as PLGA/HA blends and PCL-based composites with BaTiO۳, for enhancing mechanical strength and biological interactions. Advances in ceramic additive manufacturing and the development of silica-based scaffolds through indirect SLS processes further expand the material palette for BTE. Nevertheless, challenges remain in optimizing processing parameters, ensuring uniform material properties, and thoroughly evaluating biological performance. This review aims to provide insights into current achievements and future directions in leveraging SLS technology for bone tissue engineering.
