Remarkable reduction of plastic waste degradation time from ۳۰۰ years in natural environments to merely ۳۰ minutes through catalytic pyrolysis reactor employing MIL -۵۳(Cu)/Y zeolite nanocatalyst, with concurrent gasoline production

چکیده

The accumulation of plastic waste in natural environments has led to widespread contamination of soil and water resources. Natural degradation of these materials requires approximately ۳۰۰ years —an unacceptably prolonged timeframe. Fortunately, recent advancements in catalytic pyrolysis utilizing MIL-۵۳(Cu)/Y zeolite nanocatalysts demonstrate the capability to reduce this degradation period from ۳۰۰ years in nature to just ۳۰ minutes in reactor conditions. Moreover, this accelerated process simultaneously converts plastic waste into liquid transportation fuels. Catalytic pyrolysis was performed in a fixed-bed reactor loaded with MIL-۵۳(Cu) catalyst supported on Zeolite Y under nitrogen inert atmosphere. Controlled synthesis conditions yielded three distinct support crystallinity states: amorphous, paracrystalline, and crystalline. Gasoline fractions were isolated from liquid products via simulated distillation (Sim-Dis). Key fuel properties —including density, viscosity, cloud point, pour point, flash point, octane number, and aniline point —were determined using standardized methods. The results demonstrate exceptional alignment of the produced fuel with premium-grade (super) gasoline specifications.
