This paper deals with the determination of vibration response of laminated rectangular plate supporting a rotating circular patch mass. The two variable refinedplate theory, which involves only two unknown functions as against three in case of simple shear deformation theories, is applied to define the third orderdisplacement field of a composite rectangular plate. The Hamilton’s principle, using two variable refined plate theory, is applied to simply supported rectangularplates. The plate is considered to have simply supported boundaries. The equations of motion for ectangularplate are obtained by calculus of variation. Using this theory, the equations of motion can be found to a set of ordinary differential equations. Due to significance ofthe fundamental frequency of the plate, its variation with respect to the non-dimensional geometrical parameters such as aspect ratio of the plate, size andlocation of rotating patch mass, is investigated. Moreover, in order to reveal the effect of aspect ratio ofpatch mass on laminated composite plate’s response, itis presented contour plots of non-dimensional natural frequency. It will be demonstrated herein that theproposed theory is accurate and simple in solving the vibration behaviors of plates with patch mass and effective parameters significantly affect on nondimensionalnatural frequency.
