Synthesis and Characterization of CuWO۴ as a Photocatalyst for Photocatalytic Dye Degradation

چکیده
Photocatalytic degradation of organic dyes is an environmentally friendly method for wastewater treatment. Copper tungstate (CuWO۴), a visible-light-responsive semiconductor, has a suitable band gap (~۲.۳-۲.۵ eV), good stability, and non-toxic behavior. In this study, CuWO۴ nanoparticles were synthesized via Coprecipitation method and characterized using XRD, FESEM, and UV-Vis spectroscopy. The photocatalytic performance was evaluated via methylene blue (MB) degradation. The reaction followed pseudo-first-order kinetics with a rate constant of ۰.۰۰۲۸ min^-۱. Morphological studies confirmed quasi-spherical nanoparticles with rough surfaces (~۲۰۰-۵۰۰ nm). CuWO۴ demonstrated potential for dye removal applications. Overall, the synthesized CuWO۴ photocatalyst demonstrates significant potential for environmental remediation particularly in the treatment of dye-contaminated wastewater. These findings provide insights into the design of cost-effective and efficient tungstate-based materials for photocatalytic applications under visible light.کلیدواژه ها
