چکیده مقاله:

In the modern era, environmental preservation has become a critical concern for all nations, necessitating comprehensive collaboration to ensure environmental protection and preservation. Environmental communication between countries and organizations, irrespective of political issues, is indispensable. Therefore, Leveraging international resources to address environmental challenges and prioritizing diplomacy in environmental affairs are crucial. The United Nations Environment Programme (UNEP) stands out as one of the most significant and effective organizations dedicated to environmental conservation, operating under the United Nations umbrella. UNEP plays a pivotal role in promoting global environmental protection and sustainability. For Iran, a nation blessed with diverse ecosystems and natural resources, collaboration with UNEP to combat environmental challenges such as air and water pollution, deforestation, desertification, and climate change is imperative. Through such collaboration, Iran can access technical expertise, knowledge, and resources necessary for the development and implementation of effective environmental policies and practices. Hence, the Islamic Republic of Iran has consistently sought to strengthen its ties with UNEP and harness the organization's capacities through bilateral and multilateral cooperation to address its environmental challenges. This research endeavors to explore the challenges and opportunities in the UNEP-Iran relations by assessing their performance. It is assumed that Iran faces challenges such as sanctions.
