Synthesis of Barium Peroxide Nanoparticles by H۲O۲/Oil Reverse Microemulsion Method and Their Photocatalytic Decolorization Properties

چکیده

In this research, barium peroxide nanoparticles (BaO۲ NPs), were synthesized by H۲O۲/Organic reverse microemulsion method. Characterization of BaO۲ NPs was performed by FT-IR and XRD analyses. In the FT-IR analysis, the peak at ۱۴۶۰ ۱/cm was characteristic of peroxide compounds. In the XRD spectrum, the similarity of the peak pattern confirmed that the synthesized sample is barium peroxide. The average particle size of BaO۲ NPs was determined to be between ۴۰ and ۸۰ nm based on the analysis of SEM images. Next, the photocatalytic decolorization of BaO۲ NPs was evaluated by methylene blue (MB) aqueous solutions. The results showed that the nanoparticles had better decolorization performance at acidic pH than at alkaline pH. The decolorization of methylene blue solutions with two different concentrations of ۰.۰۰۵ and ۰.۰۱ M nanoparticles was evaluated at different times. The results showed that in the early times, a larger amount of nanoparticles led to more photo-decolorization, but as time increased, the difference in photo-decolorization between the two different amounts of nanoparticles decreased, and in ۳۵ minutes, it became almost the same and equal to ۹۰ %. Finally, a mechanism causing the generation of different active species by barium peroxide nanoparticles for photo-decolorization was proposed.
