چکیده
Accurate simulation of blood flow and arterial wall mechanics is essential for understanding cardiovascular function and pathology. This study presents the development of a three-dimensional fluid–structure interaction (FSI) model of the human thoracic aorta, constructed using clinical imaging data from a healthy adult. The model includes the ascending aorta, aortic arch with its three major branches, and descending aorta, reflecting realistic anatomical features.Geometrical modeling was performed using SolidWorks ۲۰۲۴, and the FSI analysis was conducted with COMSOL Multiphysics ۶.۰. The arterial wall was modeled as a linear elastic material with thickness based on literature values, while blood was treated as a Newtonian incompressible fluid. Time-dependent velocity and pressure waveforms, derived from Doppler ultrasound measurements, were applied as boundary conditions to replicate physiological flow. Results showed typical pressure and velocity distributions, with pulsatile flow patterns and areas of flow separation near the aortic arch branches. The arterial wall demonstrated time-dependent deformation consistent with healthy vessel compliance. These observations align with previously reported clinical and experimental findings, supporting the model’s validity. This patient-specific FSI modeling approach provides a valuable framework for studying aortic biomechanics and hemodynamics. Future work will focus on incorporating more detailed material properties, pathological geometries, and patient-specific boundary conditions to enhance its utility for clinical diagnosis and treatment planning.
