Analyzing the effects of building structure and design on mental health: A fuzzy approach

چکیده

This study investigated the impact of building design on human mental health and identified key criteria in this regard. The main objective of this study was to prioritize the criteria that have an impact on improving the mental health of building residents. Using the Fuzzy Delphi and Fuzzy AHP methods, ۱۲ initial criteria were identified and then the top ۷ criteria were selected for the final analysis. As a result, natural light was identified as the most important criterion that has an impact on the mental health of residents. Green space and space layout were ranked second and third, and are of great importance in improving mood, reducing stress, and increasing comfort. In this study, it was observed that the design of open spaces, access to nature, and natural light are among the factors that can have a positive impact on the mental health of individuals. On the other hand, some criteria such as flexible and adaptable design and the use of natural and sustainable materials were ranked lower, indicating their lower impact compared to other main criteria. The results of this study can help designers and architects to pay more attention to factors such as natural light, green space, and appropriate spatial layout in the design of buildings and urban spaces to create psychologically healthy environments for residents. Also, this study emphasizes the importance of paying attention to psychological dimensions in the building design process and suggests that more research be conducted in this field to examine the relationship between spatial design and mental health in different environments.
