The aim of the present research is to investigate the harmful effects of infrared and ultraviolet radiation on the human body and to develop transparent radiation-absorbing filters to reduce the negative impact of such radiation on steel industry workers. Methodology: The study employs the sol-gel method to absorb ultraviolet rays and the thermal evaporation method for absorbing infrared rays. Titanium dioxide (TiO₂) nanoparticles were used for UV absorption, while copper oxide (CuO) nanoparticles were used to absorb infrared radiation. To confirm the formation of TiO₂ and CuO nanoparticles, XRD tests were conducted. SEM tests were performed to confirm the nanoscale dimensions of the particles. UV-VIS spectroscopy was used to evaluate the UV light absorption of the synthesized samples. FTIR tests were conducted to assess infrared radiation absorption. Findings: According to the test results, the simultaneous presence of TiO₂ and CuO nanoparticles significantly increased the absorption of both UV and IR radiation on the glass surface. The study concludes that using both titanium dioxide and copper oxide nanoparticles on protective shields for steel industry workers effectively reduces the amount of UV radiation and thermal energy reaching the shield. Consequently, this results in a considerable reduction in potential skin and visual system damage.
