چکیده
Natural wound healing is a dynamic and complex multistep process that involves coordinated interactions between growth factors, cytokines, chemokines, and various cells. Any failure in these steps may lead to chronic wound and abnormal scarring. Impaired wound healing, especially diabetic foot ulcers, is becoming an urgent and worsening health care problem that severely affects quality of life and increases the risk of infection and amputation in patients. Dysregulation of blood sugar is known to be the primary factor in poor wound healing. Unfortunately, current treatments are only symptomatic and often fail to completely restore the wound site to its pre-injury state and prevent further recurrence. Therefore, much effort has been focused on the development of new therapeutic approaches for the treatment of diabetic foot ulcers. Therapeutic strategies based on stem cells have been proposed to treat these wounds. They have shown significant potential to improve the speed and quality of wound healing and skin regeneration. However, there are many challenges for using stem cells in skin regeneration, which can be mentioned as limited cell efficiency and low therapeutic potential. Investigating new and advanced treatments to increase the efficiency of stem cells is an urgent need. In this review, a collection of published data on the use of embryonic stem cells, induced pluripotent stem cells, and mature stem cells in wound healing will be presented.کلیدواژه ها
