چکیده

Objective: Diabetes is a chronic metabolic disorder in which the body is unable to produce insulin or use it appropriately. This disease has many complications. Foot ulcers are one of the main problems of diabetes. About ۱۵% of all diabetic patients may complain about these ulcers. Due to the lack of effective treatment and guidelines for the treatment of this type of diabetic ulcer, taking into account the existing methods and treatments and the emergence of the platelet gel method, hope has been provided for the treatment of this type of ulcer. The purpose of this study is to investigate the effects of platelet-rich plasma gel on diabetic wounds in order to find a new safe and effective treatment method. Materials & methods: This study is a review article that is provided with library and internet resources. Results: Research results show that platelet-rich plasma can be used as a new adjunctive treatment for patients with chronic wounds, including diabetic wounds. One of the most common causes of wounds is growth factor abnormalities. Platelets are considered a rich source of growth factors. PRP increases wound healing with a barrier effect to prevent bacterial invasion into the wound; it also reduces cytokine release and increases capillary growth and has antimicrobial effects against Candida albicans, MRSA, and E. Coli. Conclusion: Our findings showed that PRP can facilitate healing and also reduce the risk of amputation. It seems that PRP provides the growth factor needed for healing, as the seven basic activating factors of platelet-secreted protein growth initiate the wound healing process. Platelets also secrete transforming growth factor beta (TGF-beta) and monocyte chemoattractant protein-۱ (MCP۱), which attract monocytes and neutrophils to the body. If appropriate selection criteria are applied, PRP can be a useful aid for wound healing in people with DFU.
