چکیده

Burns are injuries caused by heat, chemicals, electricity or radiation. Healing of burn wounds is one of the major problems of medical sciences, and finding a drug or substance that can heal these wounds with minimal side effects is very valuable. According to the estimate of the World Health Organization, ۲۶۵ thousand people die worldwide every year due to burns. The percentage of death from burns to total deaths in Iran is almost three times that of Eastern Mediterranean countries and twice the global rate. Burn injury is characterized by the release of inflammatory mediators that disrupt the normal capillary barrier and cause rapid movement of intravascular fluid and protein into the interstitial spaces, ultimately leading to shock and death. As such, large volumes of intravenous fluid are required to ensure adequate end-organ perfusion. Considering that the burned tissue is a non-living tissue without blood supply, as a result, white blood cells, antibodies and antibiotics cannot reach that place through the blood stream; Therefore, they are a suitable place for the growth of microorganisms, which leads to a delay in wound healing. This condition has led researchers to search for drugs that promote recovery and reduce treatment costs. Vitamin C is an inexpensive antioxidant that decrease oxidative stress and fluid injection in high doses and can increase the protective mechanism of the immune system and provide wound healing by stimulating the collagen genes for the synthesis of collagens. It protects against ultraviolet rays, free radicals and damage, and in addition to its anti-inflammatory effect, it is a factor for depigmentation of the skin.
