چکیده
In vitro, human skin models have come a long way in the last few years to test medicinal and cosmetic products. These static skin models, however, do poorly depict how the human body normally functions. Excitingly, skin-on-a-chip (SoC) and other microfluidic devices have recently been the focus of research into creating in vitro ۳D vascularized skin models. These cutting-edge methods allow for more efficient physiological nourishment transfer and the cost-effective evaluation of potential toxicity, efficacy, and delivery of drugs. These devices provide the modeling of essential mechanical, functional, and structural characteristics of human skin, therefore more accurately replicating the original microenvironment. Unlike traditional cell culture methods, SoC devices may perfuse skin tissue by incorporating perfusable lumens or using microfluidic channels that function as designed vasculature. Furthermore, incorporating sensors inside the SoC device allows real-time, non-invasive assessment of skin functionality and the impact of topical and systemic pharmaceuticals. This viewpoint explores the most recent developments in creating HSEs, SoC transfers, and in situ SoC, which are dynamic human skin models used in vitro testing. In addition, the article delves into the techniques for incorporating skin cells onto microfluidic chips, as well as the present uses and potential future advancements in this fascinating area of research.کلیدواژه ها
