چکیده

The development of critical thinking skills is increasingly recognized as a central objective in modern education, particularly in language learning contexts. This study explores the role of English language teachers in fostering critical thinking among lower secondary school students. By integrating higher-order thinking strategies into language instruction, teachers can significantly contribute to the intellectual growth of learners. The research examines various teaching methods, classroom practices, and the extent to which English lessons are designed to go beyond rote memorization toward analytical and reflective thinking. Through qualitative interviews with teachers and classroom observations, the findings highlight that effective teacher engagement, thoughtful question design, and the use of discussion-based activities are essential in promoting critical thinking. The study concludes with recommendations for teacher training and curriculum development that prioritize critical thinking as a key educational outcome in English language classrooms.
