چکیده
Membrane technologies, including Reverse Osmosis (RO), Nanofiltration (NF), and Ultrafiltration (UF), have gained significant attention as effective solutions for water purification and wastewater treatment across a variety of industries. These technologies are crucial in addressing global water scarcity issues, industrial water treatment challenges, and environmental sustainability goals. This review explores the latest advancements in RO, NF, and UF membranes, with a particular focus on their applications, material innovations, fouling mechanisms, and process engineering integration. Key topics include the development of high-performance membranes using novel nanomaterials, the impact of surface modifications on fouling resistance, and the role of hybrid membrane systems in optimizing water treatment efficiency. Additionally, this review highlights energy-efficient solutions, scalability challenges, and the integration of membrane processes with advanced process engineering strategies. Emerging trends in membrane technologies, such as bio-inspired designs, antifouling coatings, and membrane regeneration techniques, are discussed in light of their potential to improve membrane longevity and performance. The article also emphasizes the prospects of membrane-based systems in sustainable water management, focusing on industrial applications, wastewater reuse, and desalination.
