چکیده
The present study attempts to a) investigate the differences in the frequency of strategies among Iranian successful and unsuccessful high school students, and b) determine the influence of gender on learning strategy use. A total of 182 fourth grade high school students (both male and female) at Khodabandeh, from Zanjan province took part in this study. The participants were selected through cluster random sampling. The Strategy Inventory for Language Learning translated into Persian, (SILL version 7) was used to collect the data. The obtained data were computed and analyzed via descriptive statistics, T-test, and one-way ANOVA. The findings revealed that all the participants regardless of their gender, were medium strategy users. Successful students used a wider range of learning strategies for language learning than unsuccessful students. Metacognitive strategies ranked the highest for all participants. It was also found that female students used strategies more frequently than male students. They tended to employ metacognitive and social strategies more than males. Based on the results of the study, pedagogical implications were provided.کلیدواژه ها
