Predicting Iranian BA Translation Seniors’ Quality of Translation by Means of their Paragraph Organization Skill

چکیده

Writing and translation skills having many similarities with each other are known as productive skills. In addition, translation is received in the written form in the target language. The present study aimed to investigate whether Iranian BA Translation seniors’ quality of translation can be predicted by their paragraph organization skill or not. To end this, after piloting TOEFL test with 70 BA Translation students from Central Tehran branch at Islamic Azad University, it was run to 124 BA Translation students. Subsequently, 93 students were selected according to their performances on TOEFL test. Then, after conducting translation and paragraph writing tests, a one-way ANOVA and a regression analysis were performed. The results demonstrated that translation students’ quality of translation from English to Persian can be predicted by their paragraph organization skill in Persian. According to the results of this study, the educational system of translation in Iran can design a special syllabus to improve students’ paragraph organization skill which results in enhancing their quality of translation.
