چکیده
The tendency of the human beings to get used to the things is usually referred to as habitualization. Art is what helps us see the familiar in an unfamiliar and fresh way. As a mediator literary device or technique that leads to the greater aim of gaining a new look, defamiliarization refers to any process which tears away the reader’s familiar and habitual ways of looking at the world. Most of the methods of defamiliarizing technique include the creative use of common concepts.Modern poets of different countries have tried to use various methods to show their distinguishing way of looking at th world. Sohrab Sepehri, famous Iranian modern poet, and Ezra Pound, pioneer American modern poet, both traveled a lot and were under the influence of literature of other countries especially Japanese Haiku. They were both among the main proponents of free verse But they never rejected classical learning. Each of them made use of different devices to defamiliarize various concepts and to make their readers look at them in a new way.The main devices used by Sepehri to create this effect are his unique way of using personification, symbolism and paradox. With the use of these devices he goes to the heart of actual facts and represents his readers a new way of looking at everything. Ezra Pound, the American poet, produced a series of innovative lyric and dramatic poems that were identified as Imagist.In fact he made use of the images in a unique way to defamiliarize various concepts and make his readers look at them in a new way.کلیدواژه ها
