Adipose-derived stem cell (ADSC) exosomes are increasingly recognized as a promising therapeutic modality for enhancing wound healing, owing to their proficiency in delivering bioactive molecules that support tissue repair and regeneration. These nanosized vesicles are rich in various growth factors, cytokines and microRNAs, which play crucial roles in modulating cellular functions such as inflammation, proliferation, migration, and angiogenesis. Empirical studies indicate that ADSC-derived exosomes can significantly accelerate wound healing processes by promoting re-epithelialization, increasing collagen synthesis, and stimulating neovascularization. Their small dimensions and capability to penetrate biological barriers position them as ideal candidates for the direct delivery of therapeutic agents to the site of injury. This review examines the underlying mechanisms by which ADSC exosomes facilitate wound healing and explores the potential challenges and future directions for their application in clinical settings.
