چکیده

Background: The concept of transparency in architecture is a new one that generates heterogeneous perceptions. As a result of the concepts of light and appearance in architecture, and their manifestation, some thinkers believe spatial transparency in architecture and art has increased throughout history. To determine the correct definition of transparency, its frameworks in architecture must first be determined in order to evaluate its characteristics, since transparency in some traditional buildings appears contrary to concepts such as hijab, privacy, and introversion. Different methods and elements have been used to create transparent spaces in Iranian architecture. In the courtyards, porches, openings, and skylights of the building, as much rigid material as possible is removed, and what remains is the minimum required for the building to stand. The purpose of this article is to explain and categorize transparency in the spatial structure of Iranian architecture. In order to investigate this issue, several buildings were selected according to their introverted and extroverted structures. Research method: A qualitative and descriptive-analytical approach is used in this research Results and conclusions: According to this study, structural transparency, physical-structural transparency, visual-perceptual transparency, functional transparency, and semantic transparency are all evident in the architectural space. Semantic clarity is more apparent in traditional Iranian buildings.
