Adsorption of hydrogen was studied on single and multi-walled carbon nanotubes (SWNT and MWNT) at high pressures and moderate temperatures to realize the capability of these materials for hydrogen storage. The adsorption equilibrium isotherms were measured by a static volumetric technique. The equilibrium data were obtained at the temperatures of 298, 273 and 261 K and pressure up to 70 bar. The studied MWNT showed higher amount of hydrogen adsorption than the SWNT. Experimental data of MWNT were correlated by Dubinin – Radushkevich (DR) and Dubinin – Astakhov (DA) equations as isotherm models and DA equation was found to provide a fairly good fit to the experimental data.
