A controllable micro/nano -reinforced bimodal -grained matrix was developed using flake powder metallurgy for micro B۴C/۶۰۶۱Al composites. Optimizing microstructural features at different scales led to an exceptional strength -ductility synergy. The strategy effectively controlled heterogeneous microstructural features/defects, resulting in enhanced mechanical properties. Hetero -deformation -induced hardening together with the interaction between multiple deformation mechanisms at different length scales provided a good combination of strength and ductility (۴۷۰ MPa, ۹%). This approach offers potential in tailoring the macro performance of various composites by controlling length -scaled microstructural features.
