چکیده

Introduction: A microbial biosensor is an analytical device that immobilizes microorganisms on atransducer to detect target analytes. With the development of nanotechnology, nanomaterialshave been used to achieve better immobilization for creating more reliable and selective microbialbiosensors. Microbial biosensors have become one of the most useful tools for monitoringenvironmental, food, and clinical samples. The ability to detect disease early and provide precisetreatment for human diseases will be transformative. To achieve these goals, biosensors areneeded that can identify the time and place of disease emergence. Rapid advances in syntheticbiology enable us to harness the information processing capabilities of living cells for diseasediagnosis and then treat it in a controlled manner. Objectives: Low yield and subpar performance of natural products produced by microbial cells arecommon challenges in the field of natural products. One effective approach to address these issues isthe design of genetic biosensors for monitoring and regulating biosynthesis. This review paperexamines recent advancements and applications of microbial biosensors over the past decade. Methods: In this study, databases such as PubMed, Science Direct, Google Scholar, ProQuest, andScopus were utilized. This review article focuses on examining microbial biosensors in۱۰ years.Discussion and Conclusion: Microorganisms have been widely employed as biosensing elements inthe construction of biosensors due to their low cost, long lifespan, and broad suitability. Despitethe development of various microbial biosensors for environmental, food, military, and biomedicalapplications, they have shown more promising development compared to enzymatic biosensors, hence large-scale production can be suggested.
