چکیده

People plan vacations and embark on travels seeking freedom, leisure, escape from the ordinary, happiness, and fulfillment. These motivations are diverse, ranging from shopping and fulfilling psychological needs to experiencing cultural heritage, nature, and adventure. Despite this variety, a common thread emerges: tourists prioritize enjoyment and relaxation. Even in adventure tourism, the focus lies on thrill and excitement, not inherent risks. However, tourism studies identify various risks that can threaten travelers' safety and security. These concerns are paramount, and any risk, real or perceived, can significantly impact travel decisions. Travelers respond by opting for safer destinations, canceling reservations, or rescheduling trips. These behavioral patterns demonstrate their risk aversion. Conversely, research reveals travelers actively seek to mitigate risks. Scholars highlight readily available, high-quality information as a key strategy. Such information fosters familiarity with destinations and their unique circumstances. Awareness of potential risks empowers travelers to make informed choices, prepare adequately, and take necessary safety precautions. Ultimately, this reduces risk exposure and contributes to a fulfilling travel experience. While tourism literature reviews established risks – those defined by the probability of encountering dangers with negative consequences – this analysis doesn't simply uncover existing threats. Risks are inherent to travel, but a geographical perspective is crucial, particularly for tourism destinations. Travelers venturing into unfamiliar locations can face unforeseen environmental challenges. Therefore, identifying risks is key to understanding a destination. Unidentified risks can clash with the very factors that attract tourists (pull factors) and ultimately ruin the enriching experience travelers expect.
