Sea cucumbers from the genus Holothuria have long been attributed to health benefits and disease-preventive properties, and it is only in recent years that modern science has set out to validate such through a number of rigorous pharmacological studies. Also, having such bioactivity as the anti-angiogenic, anticoagulant, and antioxidant properties, as well as the neuroprotective and anti-inflammatory ones, sea cucumbers seem to promise a new lead in the development of novel treatments across a range of medical conditions. The present review is an overview of the bioactive effects of sea cucumbers, particularly species of HoloThuria, in relation to the use of their compounds as natural preservatives in food and cosmetics.This group encompasses the more widely occurring compounds that have already been found to have health benefits, such as amino acids, vitamins, and minerals.accomplished the Scopus and PubMed from ۲۰۰۵ till now Preferred Reporting Items for Reviews and. Duplicated articles were removed .The following keywords were used for investigating cytotoxicity and bioactive effect ,antibacterial effects: holothuria ,bioactive ,antibacterial, and cytotoxicThe other group contains compounds that have also been found in other marine animals, but the holothurian forms may differ in some way or their actions are more pronounced in Holothuria species. Properties of sea cucumber extracts may potentially find place in therapies related to chronic inflammation and pain management.Considering the wide pharmacological spectrum described , antifungal and antileishmanial activities of such substances open a new frontier in the treatment of infectious diseases resistant to medications currently in use. Thus, some of the bioactive compounds from Holothuria are being enquired as antiviral agents to help restrain the replication and proliferation of viruses, which can advance the development of new antiviral therapies Utilization of these bioactive antivirals.
