Lime or quicklime (CaO), containg more than 65% of clinker, is an energy intensive production in cement rotary Kiln. In this research the energy and exergy consumption of the calcination process assaciated with enviromnental impact are investigated in cement production, in order to identify the factors affecting fuel consumption. Data on energy and exergy consumption and losses throughout the calcination process are given for rotary Kiln. In the process, the energy efficiency is calculated to be higher than the exergy efficiency, e.g. 53.4% and 28.6% for the energy and exergy efficiency. The exergy destruction is 40.6% of inlet exergy which is associated with two processes of calcination and combustion. Also, 18.4% of exergy input is lost by exhaust gases. The amount of CO(2) released during calcinations is calculated 49,167 kg/he and the total CO(2) emission during calcinations and combustion is extimated 63,797 kg/hr.
