چکیده

Stimuli-chromic polymer coating that show visual color changes upon different stimulus such as light are of greatimportance, recently. In this study, photochromic spiropyran ethyl methacrylate (SPEMA) was synthesized and thencopolymerized with methyl methacrylate (MMA) and hydroxy ethyl methacrylate (HEMA) through solution radicalpolymerization to give the corresponding poly(SPEMA-co-MMA-co-HEMA) terpolymer. Chemical structure andfunctional groups and of the synthesized dye and Poly(SPEMA-co-MMA-co-HEMA) terpolymer was identified byFTIR analysis. In addition, UV-Vis result of the prepared film showed visual color change from light yellow topurple upon UV illumination at ۳۶۵ nm. These exhibited applicability of the Poly(SPEMA-co-MMA-co-HEMA)terpolymer for smart applications like high-sensitive sensors, data storage, information encryption, and etc.
