چکیده

The design of polymeric nanoparticles as a drug delivery system has increased over the last few decades, inwhich polymeric materials such as polyesters offer advantages. Controlling the size of the nanoparticles toimprove bioavailability and achieve selective delivery to a pharmaceutical target is of great importance. Forthis purpose, the modulation of the particle size (PS) and polydispersity index (PDI) is one of the mostsought-after parameters. The study aimed to prepare and evaluate the potential use of poly (lactic acid)/poly(vinyl alcohol) (PLA/PVA) nanoparticles as a drug delivery system. The nanoparticle formulations weresuccessfully synthesized by the double emulsion-solvent evaporation method. The effects of emulsifierconcentration and homogenization speed on the physicochemical parameters, including PS, PDI, and zetapotential of the formulations, were investigated to obtain the best results. Based on the findings, thenanoparticle formulation comprising ۲% w/v of PVA in both primary and secondary aqueous phases, with ahomogenization speed of ۱۴,۵۰۰ rpm, has a suitable PS (۳۲۴.۵۴ nm), PDI (۰.۲۲), and ζ-potential (−۲۶.۵ mV).In conclusion, this novel formulation demonstrated potential as a drug delivery system.
