The Study of Adsorption Efficiency of Alizarin Red Dye on the Surface of Soot–Poly(O-Toluidine) Nanocomposite

چکیده

In this study, a soot–poly(o-toluidine) nanocomposite (St-POT) was synthesized via candle soot (St) nanoparticles were impregnated on poly-o-toluidine (POT) by in situ oxidative polymerization under ultrasonic field. The structural, chemical, and surface properties of the prepared nanocomposite were characterized using various techniques such as FT-IR, XRD, SEM, BET, BJH, and AFM. This nanocomposite was used as an adsorbent surface to remove Alizarin Red (AR) dye from its aqueous solution, and the results showed that it is an excellent adsorbent. Various conditions that affect adsorption were studied, such as temperature, equilibrium time, adsorbent dose, and pH, which showed the highest AR dye adsorption efficiency reaching ۹۹.۳۷% at the equilibrium time of ۴۰ minutes and the adsorbent weight of ۰.۰۳ g at ۲۵ °C. The study of thermodynamic indicated that the adsorption process was exothermic and spontaneous. According to the result of isotherm and kinetic studies, the adsorption process follows the Freundlich model and pseudo-second order, respectively.
