چکیده
Dyes, one of the most important industrial pollutants, inhibit sunlight penetration into the stream and affect aquatic ecosystem. It is well known that some dyes and their degradation products cause poisoning, allergy, skin irritation and cancer in humans. Methylene blue (MB), widely used in textile industries, can cause some harmful effects such as increased heart rate, shock, tissue necrosis, jaundice and eye burns, although it is not strongly dangerous. Thus, the removal of dyes from effluents is very important because of their esthetic impacts on the environment. Up to now, several methods have been proposed to remove dyes from aqueous solutions. Among tested physicochemical methods, adsorption is the best one due to low cost, high capacity, biodegradability and ability to remove dyes in high concentrations [۱]. Palladium nanoparticles (PdNPs), due to their unique electronic and chemical properties, have attracted major attention for their high efficiency as heterogeneous nanocatalysts for various organic transformations such as C-C coupling reactions, hydrogenation of alkenes and alkynes, oxidation reactions, reduction of nitroarenes and degradation of dyes [۲].In this work, palladium nanoparticles (Pd NPs) were synthesized using prunus armeniaca gum (PAG) under green conditions in water. The formed Pd@PAG were characterized by UV-Vis spectroscopy, Fourier transform infrared spectroscopy (FT-IR), X-ray diffraction (XRD), zeta potential as well as transmission electron microscopy (TEM) and scanning electron microscopy (SEM). PAG has been used as reducing and stabilizing agent. The catalytic activity of synthesized Pd@PAG was evaluated for the degradation of methylene blue in the presence of NaBH۴ reducing agent.
